Ruth Deiseroth-Kweton is the artist who runs Coco Loco Art Gallery.
As a medical consultant (laboratory) she lived and worked more than 6 years overseas in countries like Yemen, Saudi-Arabia and Niger. Inspired by the confrontation with these intense cultures she decided to reflect on her memories and life experiences by painting.
She quit her professional career and attended Staedel School of Fine Arts in Frankfurt, Germany for 3 years.
In 1999 she decided to leave Germany together with her husband and bought a 20 acres property close to Arenal volcano. October 2000 she opened Coco Loco Art Gallery where she lives, works and exhibits her artwork together with friends from the local art community and native tribes.
Her work reflects her very personal interpretation of the individual in contact with different cultures, nature and, above all, itself.
Besides the traditional canvas she uses any kind of material to paint and work on: wooden artefacts and surfaces, plant leaves, ceramics etc.
She creates masks, vases, mirrors, crosses and paintings.
